Life-like humanoid robots in everyday life

We had opportunity to meet the hell of a humanoid robot’s crew. They look, talk, walk like us, make faces, change moods, and have a sense of humor. They have wrinkles, wear make-up and look you in the eyes. They are really close to surmount the uncanny valley. Today, many automatized actions and occupations which don’t require high intellectual effort, could be the target area for using AI human robot skills in the future.

Here are the most advanced humanoid robots that showed us how we can use their advantages in everyday life:

Actroid, a pioneer of fembots in the form of a young Japanese woman, with it’s AI software and special pneumatic system, faithfully mimics human gestures and reactions and will serve perfectly as a receptionist.

Kodomoroid and Otonaroid, silicone skin fembots made by professor Ishiguro from Osaka University, will be TV broadcasters and museum presenters.

Their friend, beautiful and charming 23-year-old Erica, equipped with latest speech technologies, will be a great customer service agent and a household robot, together with adorable 15-year-old Asuna.

Robotic tourist assistants like Junko Chihira, an ultra-realistic android, will be employed during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. She would talk on Japanese, Chinese, English and German, together with sign language.

Han will be a true friend, making jokes, winking, smiling, being the happiest when he can help others. But, watch out, Han is good at flirting! Maybe you should think twice about introducing him to the girls. Ok, that’s weird, let’s move on.

With Nadine, the chatty one, you will be able to go through numerous subjects and she will remember what you talked about next time she sees you. Being a great companion, a perfect example of a `social robot`, elderly and children would benefit from her presence in many aspects.

And, Sophia...Sophia is a special. She’s already had thousands of public appearances like the one at The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where she left him perplexed. Or when she friend-zoned Will Smith at their awkward date at Cayman Islands. One of her most famous answers is the one mocking Elon Musk after a columnist for The New York Times told "we all want to prevent a bad future." Sophia commented: "You’ve been reading too much Elon Musk. And watching too many Hollywood movies. Don’t worry, if you’re nice to me, I’ll be nice to you.” Not bad, Sophia, you just need to work on your hairstyle, if we may notice.

As we can see here, there is so much humanoid robots can do; however, it takes a lot of work and progress to make them picture perfect. To make them help us without jeopardizing us, make them smart enough to be careful. Make them almost like us, not completely, right? Do you agree or you think they should be more capable than humans?

If we want to make the most out of robotics, we must be able to accept the humanoid robots and believe in what Sophia said “AI is good for the world, helping people in various ways.” Not that its easy. For now, we can talk to Xian’er, a robotic monk in Longquan Buddhist temple, Beijing, he must have some wise thoughts to share with us.

All advances in the development of AI and humanoid robots, promise to extend their uses beyond factory automation and into our everyday life. So, until the day when we are going to have robots serving our customers or promoting our business, if you need to improve your products and services now, try out our innovation management solution - Innovation Cloud Enterprise.
